Some rules or requirements can be different for a specific state. In this case, you can learn the process to obtain a driver’s license in Connecticut.

Driver’s License in Connecticut: Steps to Follow

In general, getting a Driver’s License in Connecticut is very easy, but you have to be careful with the documents required and pay attention to the instructions.

There are three (3) steps that you have to pass through to get your Driver’s License:

Apply for a Learner’s Permit

This is the first and most important step in the process. Getting your Learner’s Permit is the halfway point to getting your Driver’s License. It is important to pay attention to the documents required for the Learner’s Permit appointment.

For this step you need two original identity documents (e.g., Passport, birth certificate), photocopies are not allowed. In addition, you need to prove that you live in the state of Connecticut.

This requires mail correspondences with your name and address. This can include a bill from a bank or mortgage company. If you use eye contact or glasses, don’t forget them, there will be an eye test. If you have all the documents in order and pass the written test, congrats! you will have your Learner’s Permit.

Once you have your Learner’s Permit, you need to wait

Remember that this document is temporary, you can drive but under the supervision of a guardian or individual with a valid license for a minimum of 4 years.

For adults, you must wait a minimum of 90 days in order to take your Road Test. For teenagers aged 16 and17, you must wait 180 days. During this waiting period, all students are required to take the 8-hour Safe Driving Course and practice on the road skills in order to be ready for your road test.
