Services offered by Connecticut’s DMV

Services offered by Connecticut’s DMV. The Department of Motor Vehicles is a government agency that operates at the state level, which means that each DMV has its own regulations and requirements in each state. But all of them offer the same services: motor vehicle registration and driver licensing. Connecticut has about 20 DMV offices in the state, offering different services:

Services offered by Connecticut’s DMV

  1. Driving Licensing. The DMV is the only agency allowed to issue driver’s licenses. The DMV issues licenses or ID cards for US citizens and documented citizens, while for undocumented issue Drive Only Licenses. In 2023 the DMV following Federal legislation will start the process of Real ID verification. If you need to renew your license, go to the DMV.
  2. Vehicle registration. In the USA, if you buy a new vehicle, no matter if it is an SUV, bus, cargo truck, or motorcycle, you have to register your vehicle. The DMV will provide your vehicle with an identification number and a permanent plate. If you want to register only a plate or cancel it, it is also a function of the DMV. Also, the DMV manages the renewed vehicle registration.
  3. Transferring ownership. If need to transfer our plates to another vehicle, sell your vehicle, transfer your vehicle from one immediate family member to another immediate family member, transfer your vehicle from a deceased person to a new owner or immediate family member, or adding, dropping, or change a name on title and registration, go to the DMV, you can do everything there.
  4. Also, the DMV offers other quick services, such as schedule tests including the Learner’s Permit test, Road test, and CDL knowledge test. DMV also provides the CT driver’s manual for the license test, change of address, duplicate driver’s license, pay infraction ticket, medical certification system, provide driving history, lookup registration status, order special license plates, and register to vote online.

DMV is an important agency, and knowing what they are and what they do is valuable, especially if you are a non-US citizen. So, take time to visit Connecticut’s DMV official website and learn more about how they can help you.
