What to Do After I Fail My Driving Test?

Failing your driving test can be very frustrating, especially if you spend many hours doing driving training or have been going to driving schools. However, this is not the end of the world, you must look at this as an opportunity to grow and better yourself in any way you can. There could be many factors that caused you to fail. Maybe it was you were too nervous, or perhaps you weren’t feeling confident enough.

No matter the reason, here we will go over what to do after you fail your driving exam.

Determine Why You Failed

If you failed your driving test, then you must find out why for future references, so you don’t repeat the same mistakes.

You can do this by listening to the driving inspectors’ comments after your exam is over, or by examining the testing sheet and seeing in what areas you failed in.

By looking at the testing sheet, you will be able to see what areas you need to improve on and what areas you did well in. The more information at your disposal, the more beneficial it will be to improve those weaknesses.

Some of the most common reason driving students to fail is due to:

  • Driving too slow or too fast
  • Hesitating on what to do
  • Not checking your mirror or blind spot
  • Not able to park correctly
  • Losing control
  • Weaving side to side while driving
  • Unsafe driving

Practice

Now that you know what you need to work on, start practicing again. It’s recommended to schedule another driving test after one month. This will give you enough time to practice the areas in which you are weak in.

You can also go back to driving school and practice with a professional driving instructor. You will be able to show the instructor the testing sheet. Once they review it, they will have a better understanding of what you need to work on. With this, they can focus on your errors to prevent them from happening again.

Retake the Exam

Now we are back for round two and before you go in for the exam try getting some extra lessons in to let go of some of that stress.

If you let go of that stress or anxiety, the chance of passing your driving test will greatly increase. You may know how to drive but because of driving anxiety, you may forget some stuff, and that is ok.

As long as you practice before and take the test with confidence you will do well.
